The clash between NSCN (U) and NSCN (K) Niki Sumi group near Khehoyi camp here on October 17 night that resulted in the death of one person belonging to the Niki group has been condemned by many organisations.
The 14 Tribal Hohos of Nagaland have condemned the act of violence, which has created social unrest even in the public domain. The hohos in a statement said that act of violence had no place in a civilised society, as it not only created more misunderstandings but brought divisions that could hamper the Naga peace process.
Appealing to all Naga political groups (NPGs) to refrain from any sort of physical confrontation and act of violence, the hohos prayed that the NPGs concerned would take a note of its appeal to maintain peace and tranquillity in the State and society.
GNF: Global Naga Forum (GNF) also condemned in the strongest possible terms the incident. The forum in a statement emphasised that Naga people, regardless of their ideological and political differences, must agree and be clear that any group that resorted to violence and murder was an enemy of the people and Naga cause.
“Claiming the Naga cause of freedom and self-determination, then taking away the right of our own people to live is absurd. It is barbaric, inhuman, and morally repugnant by the standards of any civilised society,” the statement added.
As the Naga people were tired of the endless divisions, enmities and killings, GNF said it was time to start resolving the problems through non-violent negotiations and commitment to a process of healing.
The forum asserted that any Naga political group or civil society organisation whose loyalty to the group was greater than to the greater Naga cause were not patriots.
Mourning the death of Ino Atoka Kinimi, GNF said it empathised with his family members and prayed that they may find solace in the grace and healing power that only God could give at a time like this.
