DVC against move to bifurcate village

Darogapathar Village Council in its emergency meeting held on December 29, 2021 resolved that any move to bifurcate the village along the Nagarjan By-pass from 3rd Mile area (NH 29) would be opposed, maintain the integrity of village boundary and not let formation of the new district/s affect it.

Mentioning this in a memorandum to chief secretary J Alam, council’s chairman K Ado Bizo and secretary I Jamir, and head GB Yashimeren Ao said the meeting resolved by majority vote to continue under the same administrative circle (Seithekema/Chümoukedima, EAC Circle) and preferably under the new district of Chümoukedima.

They said the meeting felt that creation of new districts, especially Dimapur and Chümoukedima, could lead to bifurcation of the village, it being in the boundary of the two districts.

For reference, they pointed out that Darogapathar village was located in the eastern region of erstwhile Dimapur district with Naharbari village in north, Thilixu and Chekiye villages in south, Phaipijang village in west and Padumpukhri village, Aoyimti village, ARTC/airport along NH 29 in east.

Claiming that Darogapathar, established in 1811, was one of the oldest villages in the plains of Dimapur, they said ever since the formation of Dimapur district, the village has been directly under the administrative control of EAC Seithekema/Chümoukedima circle.

Alleging that Darogapathar village nomenclature had been misrepresented by GB Union, East Dimapur without their knowledge, they clarified that the GBs of Darogapathar village had always been under the umbrella of GB Union, Chümoukedima circle.

In this regard, the council sought rectification and positive implementation of the memorandum.
