Benpuluin Semchir Telongjem (BST) culminated its yearlong silver jubilee celebration on December 28 at Kumlong community ground.
The yearlong celebration witnessed different activities organised by (BST), a union formed by the descendants of Late Benpuluin Jamir, one of the first settlers of the present day Kumlong ward in Mokokchung town. The 22nd edition of the Benpuluin Memorial Volleyball Trophy was also held on the same day.
The main speaker at the programme, SDO (C) Mokokchung, Sentilong Ozukum, while speaking on the theme “rejuvenation”, said that rededication was very important for the betterment of oneself, the family and the society.
He said that celebrating 25 years of existence was not a small feat and therefore asserted that the theme was very appropriate for everyone to introspect and look forward with renewed strength.
While speaking about the present society, Ozukum lamented that there was a lot of negativisms among the people which was hampering the progress of the society. He called upon the people to contribute positively for the society to move forward.
Pastor of Kumlong Baptist Church, Kikum Longkumer invoked God’s blessings at the jubilee celebration. A souvenir book was also released at the programme to commemorate the grand celebration.
