Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) comprising of Niuland Area Students’ Union and Ato Area Students’ Union has reiterated demand for “complete black-topping” of 4th Mile Dimapur to Niuland Town road on priority.
In a representation addressed to chief engineer NPWD (R&B), JCC convenor H Hisaka Kibami and secretary Kaka K Holo pointed out that the committee over the past two years has been urging the department and the government for “complete black-topping”. However, JCC regretted that the department turned a deaf ear to the grievances of the public.
In this regard, JCC said an emergency meeting with Ao Area GBs Association (AAGBA), Niuland Area GBs Union (NAGBU) and all frontal organisations of the two areas was held on December 17, 2021.
JCC said the meeting unanimously adopted a resolution to fight “tooth and nail for the complete strengthening and restructuring” of the 4th Mile Dimapur to Niuland Town road.
Therefore, the committee has urged the department to intervene and ensure that “complete strengthening and restructuring” of the road under NPWD (R&B) Dimapur division. JCC further cautioned that it would be constrained to undertake any democratic measurers of resentment as deemed fit if the authority concerned fails to deliver and address the basic amenities of good roads.
