Tribute concert in memory of late Temjen Toy

The first death anniversary of late Temjen Toy then chief secretary was observed at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma on Friday by family members, friends and well-wishers. Late Temjen was appointed chief secretary on January 1, 2019. Late Temjen Toy passed away on January 28, 2021 after a prolonged illness.
The memorial highlighted performance by various artists who sang late Temjen Toy’s favourite songs like Kris Kristofferson’s ‘Why me Lord’, ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ (Bette Midler) etc. while Alezo Keditsu, brother in-law of late Temjen Toy, also performed one of his (Toy) favorite number– ‘The Older I Get’ by Alan Jackson.
Late Temjen Toy’s friends– advisor School education KT Sukhalu, former additional chief secretary, HK Khulu and Aochuba Yanger sang ABBA’s ‘I Have A Dream’.
Advisor TaFMA Theja Meru, former Music Task Force project director Gugs Chishi, Secheku Choir were among those who performed.
In her brief speech, Rouvi Toy, wife of late Temjen Toy, cited a verse from a hymn: “This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it”, while thanking all the guests for making it possible to attend the event to celebrate late Temjen’s life. She said the family has been overwhelmed by the love and support they continue to receive.
Rouvi said Temjen always used to encourage them to “look up no matter what.” Even when the family first came to learn about the diagnosis, she said Temjen encouraged them that “life should go on.”
“And so, one year after his leaving, we are here to celebrate a life well lived to the fullest and the life that always saw the light through everything,” said Rouvi.
Colleague and friend of late Temjen, principal secretary Menukhol John, also spoke on the occasion.
