Students of Government High School (GHS) Purana Bazaar, Dimapur conducted a cleanliness drive in an around the High School Colony, Purana Bazaar on Friday.
The cleanliness drive was initiated by North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), Master of Social Work (MSW), trainees Huvili Sumi and Renchano N. Lotha as part of their community organization activities.
According to the release by the trainees, the students were urged to maintain hygiene and cleanliness both inside and outside the locality.
The students were also made aware about how accumulation of waste and subsequent dumping leads to breeding of germs and bacteria.
The release stated that the cleanliness drive was a small initiative to inculcate the importance of keeping the environment healthy.
Students endeavoured to clean the roads and piles of garbage in the locality, informed the release. More than 300 students participated in the drive.
