The Nagaland Chamber Choir (TNCC) participated in the 4th Asia Pacific Choir Games and Grand Prix of the nation which was held from October 21 to 28, 2017 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Altogether 74 choirs from 17 countries participated. There were 8 choirs from India. Representing India in two categories viz Gospel/Spiritual category and Folklore Acapella category. TNCC competed and won Silver Medals in both the categories at the Asia Pacific Championship. In addition, the Choir also won Golden Diplomas securing direct entry to the 5th Asia pacific champion competition to be held in 2021. Besides the competitions TNCC performed in a friendship concert at the St Marys Church Colombo and was a part of the Festival Stage Choir alongside 4 other choirs from Latvia, Iran, Srilanka and India at the closing Ceremony.
It was a proud yet humbling moment for TNCC to represent India. The Choir has gained rich experience and perspectives to enhance and encourage Choral Music to a higher level of international standard, not only in our state but in the country as well.
TNCC acknowledges the Government of Nagaland for the part financial assistance received through the Directorate of Art and Culture, and NEC Shillong through the planning and coordination department; Churches, Well Wishers and Family members for their continued support throughout this momentous journey.
What sums up TNCC as a distinct from the rest of the competing Choir is that- “there are moments in Life that completely demolishes our self confidence in one’s abilities, when we realise that God has been at work all along”. The 4th Asia Pacific Choir Games was one of those moments for The Choir.” Not by might, nor by power but by the Spirit of the Lord”.……. TO GOD BE THE GLORY.
