National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) in collaboration with Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) and Peace Channel jointly organised community tobacco awareness and health camp in Khriezephe village on September 23.
During the campaign, resource person, Dr C Tetseo, stated that tobacco was not only a health hazard but that it could also lead to alcoholism and drug addiction among young people. He encouraged the village council to adopt tobacco free village norm for the good of the village.
Asserting that inter-sectoral collaboration was the need of the hour, he said NGOs like Peace channel and DAN are playing positive roles concerning health issues. Dr C Tetseo appreciated NEISSR students for initiating the programme.
Earlier, Dr V Kezo and Dr Arenla attended to about a hundred patients and also distributed free medicines.
