NGA attends ‘global Gorkha convention’

A four-member team representing Nagaland Gorkha Association (NGA) led by its president Nobin Pradhan attended a 3-day “global Gorkha convention” in New Delhi from September 15-17.
In the convention, one of the resolutions adopted was for a national  Gorkhaland committee consisting of eminent intellectuals, sub-committee representing various states. Roadmaps, strategies in making separate state demand national in nature and sufferings of common people in the 90-plus days of bandh were also some of the important discussions held. 
Relief and rehabilitation for the population in Darjeeling hills was an important agenda where students from various universities across the country deliberated. 
It may be noted that global Gorkha convention was a follow-up of global Gorkhaland unity rally which was held worldwide across 150-odd cities including Kohima, Mokokchung, Wokha and Kiphire on August 30. 
The convention was attended by state apex associations, Lt Gen (R) Shakti Gurung, former chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh Trilok Dewan, Dr. Mahendra P. Lama, Ex-Chairman, UGC, professor Munish Tamang, senior journalist Times of India, Joel Rai and Swaraj Thapa.
