Jakha Town Baptist Church observed, “clean election Sunday” on September 10 with NVCO president, Kezhokhoto Savi as speaker.
A press note by NVCO press and media cell stated that Savi highlighted the 18 points of agreement signed on June 22 by the NBCC with six (6) different political parties in Nagaland such as not to buy votes, not to insist/force clan, khel, village, and family to declare support for a particular candidate, not to bribe voters, not to distribute party money, not to distribute alcohol/drugs, not to set up camps, not to put up flags and posters, not to provide feasting/picnic or go for procession, not to use the support of underground/NPGs, to avoid house to house campaign etc. He also said that Angami Baptist Churches Council (ABCC) had declared September 10 as clean election Sunday with great concern for a better society and a brighter future for the generation. Savi said that the time has come for every citizen to realise that one’s vote decided the fate for five years and beyond. He stressed that people needed a legislator who was people friendly and ready to sacrifice for corrupt-free society and in setting up of Lokayukta, etc. Pastor of Jakha Town Baptist Church Bise Sophie read out the letter of ABCC.
