U-turn: Pangteang to be sworn-in as minister today

In another U-turn on Sunday evening, chief minister, T.R. Zeliang decided to include EE Pangteang as a cabinet minister.
Pangteang would be sworn-in as the 11th minister on Monday, 9 a.m. at the Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan Kohima. This was also confirmed by EE Pangteang.
It may be recalled that on Saturday’s swearing-in programme, Pangteang’s name was listed at serial no. 7 as per the Raj Bhavan order. However, in a last minute glitch, Pangteang’s name was removed by the CMO. It was later made known that Noke was to be accommodated.
After learning that Noke was disappointed with both T.R. Zeliang and Neiphiu Rio, Pangteang was given an option whether he would want to be a simple minister or opt for the post of advisor with plump portfolio. Since Pangteang opted for the advisor’s post, Noke’s name was cleared for cabinet, sources said.
However, things took a sudden turn and Pangteang was called in by the chief minster on Sunday evening to inform him that his name has been finalized to be sworn in on July 24.
Meanwhile, sources said that Noke is likely to be made the DAN chairman.
