Excise department has seized liquor and drugs worth Rs.41.78 lakh in all the districts in Nagaland from January 23 till February 20.
The seizure followed setting up of district nodal officers for election expenditure monitoring in all the districts along with the static surveillance team as per directions of election commission.
In a press release, excise commissioner Maongwati Aier said district nodal officers, static surveillance teams and flying squads in all the districts have been conducting raids and seizures regularly to effectively implement and enforce the model code of conduct.
The seizure of liquor made in all the districts in Nagaland from January 23 till February 20.

Excise commissioner reminded that distribution of money, liquor and other gist items among the electors was a crime, saying both the giver and taker were punishable with imprisonment up to one year and imposition of fine as per IPC.
Pointing out that ceiling limit of expenditure during elections by each candidate was Rs. 8 lakh, excise commissioner said the candidate or election agents were not authorized to carry more than Rs.50,000 with them as per the ECI directive.
