Dimapur gears up for World Music Day

A group of Naga entrepreneurs based in Dimapur has teamed up to make the World Music Day (WMD) 2017 a much happening occasion “again” thanks to their seriousness on taking up Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) full on.
While there are numerous music stores in and around Dimapur who should be feeling equally responsible to dutifully perform their CSR as the label so suggests, there are only a few entrepreneurs who fully understand the meaning and fewer still that go the extra mile to fulfil it.
And joining the bandwagon to make the WMD 2017 a grand success in Dimapur; Sky Entertainment, The Institute for Music Education (TIME), Crescendo, Shiu Lights, Encore, A.J Power, Action Powerline have come up with a concrete plan to make the day memorable for all the musicians and music lovers in the city.
Realising the need for artistes to fully express themselves through the help of management, sound, lights, stage, gears etc. the above mentioned entrepreneurs will provide the necessary equipments and manpower for the global event where people come out to the open to bring artistes closer to their audience.
The event which falls on June 21 worldwide, will take place at State Stadium, Dimapur from 6:15 p.m. onwards.
Addressing a press conference for the event held at Aier’s Enclave, Notun Basti, Dimapur; Sunday, proprietor of Crescendo music store, sounds and events, Akum Jamir said they wanted to make WMD a memorable occasion knowing the fact that there would be a lot of resources put into action.
He said besides making the day a one day affair, the organizers had come up with a plan to bridge the gap between music institutes and under privileged kids wanting to take formal music education. For this, he said, there will be a free will donation during the event and the entire benefits will proceed to sponsoring those under privileged kids wanting to take up formal music education.
On behalf of the organizers, Akum urged music institutes in and around Dimapur to come forward and accommodate those shortlisted kids. He said the organizers have formed a screening committee to shortlist under privileged but highly talented kids from all parts of the city.
He also informed that besides the number of artistes, who have confirmed to participate, there are a few more slots to be filled and therefore any artiste or group/band wanting to participate can contact any of the organizers.
Akum invited videographer and photographers willing to cover the event to come forward and be part of the event as necessary measures at the venue would be ensured for their participation.
Expressing regret that very few business establishments come forward when it come to free events like this, Akum said there still was room for any person willing to be part of the event as sponsors in any form.
Earlier the press conference was chaired by TIME academic director Yanpo Humtsoe.
