Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) and the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) on Tuesday held a joint meeting at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur where both sides held a “free and frank discussion” on the issue of coming together for a common aspiration.
This was contained in a joint communiqué issued by NNPG leaders and NBCC as signed by NNPGs convener Kitovi Zhimomi (GPRN/NSCN), co-conveners- Kiumukam (NNC/GDRN), Zhopra Vero (NNC/FGN), Wangtin Naga (NSCN-R), V Nagi (NNC- parent body), Hozheto Chopi (NNC/NPGN) and NBCC general secretary, Rev. Dr. Z. Keyho.
NNPG leaders apprised NBCC about the formation of the NNPGs in the present context and sought the “spiritual blessing” of NBCC. Further, NNPGs also briefed NBCC on the positive steps taken by them to “come together and pursue the common aspiration of the Naga people”. In response, NBCC expressed the hope that the coming together of six NNPGs would strengthen historical, social and spiritual cord among all Nagas. NBCC also appealed that other political groups who were yet to come forward into the fold, be invited “unconditionally” so that the great promise of God to Nagas could be fulfilled.
NBCC assured its continued unceasing prayer support for peace and unity of Nagas. Meanwhile, NNPGs endorsed NBCC’s “clean election campaign” while “strongly affirming that they may not involve, indulge or participate in Indian elections.”
