Vikheho inaugurates two new primary schools

Two new government primary schools (GPS) under Pughoboto sub-division, Zunheboto district was inaugurated by minister of Roads & Bridges, Y Vikheho Swu on May 20. Minister inaugurated the GPS Natsumi and GPS Heboluqa. 
Addressing the gathering, the minister expressed hope that opening of the two GPS would help mould a good foundation of education and children would gain quality education.
Maintaining that with a view to encourage students of Pughoboto sub-division, he as the local elected representative would be soon launch a programme “Beyond Books”, where officers, musicians, entrepreneurs and artists would visit schools to interact with students. Minister said this would motivate them not only towards excelling in education but also develop their skills and talents for sustainability in the future.
Minister also lauded the Sumi Aphuyemi Teachers Welfare Organisation for initiating the government school football tournament in the area. He also urged upon the teachers to be sincere in their duties.
Urging the students to value their culture and tradition, the minister opined that it was the responsibility of the parents to encourage children to respect and uphold their own dialect, tradition and culture. He also asked the students to be sincere in their studies, besides being courteous, and respecting elders to be successful in life.
Minister said with the implementation of SSA programme there were lots of drastic changes in the infrastructures of government schools and urged the citizens, teachers and particularly the students to maintain the infrastructure.
Swu pointed that as part of the Year of Economic Development of Pughoboto, various projects have been initiated since 2013, including 3 for all piggery project, cycle network, tree plantation, skilling Pughoboto and also holding Thuwuni.
Emphasizing on the important of planting trees, Swu encouraged the citizens to actively participate in tree plantation. Minister, his wife and ADC Pughoboto led in planting trees around the new schools.
GPS Natsumi has 32 students and 4 teachers while GPS Heboluqa has 33 students with six teachers. The schools were constructed through SSA funding while desk and benches were donated by Vikheho Swu.
