Marwari Cricket Premier League begins

A week-long Marwari Cricket Premier League – I (MPL) organised by Marwari Yuva Manch, commenced on Sunday at Dimapur District Sports Complex (DDSC) with advisor, Industries and Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu, as the special guest of the opening ceremony.


The tournament is being sponsored by Onkarmal Aggarwal Foundation and would culminate on August 28. Altogether, eight teams are participating in the tournament.


Addressing the gathering, Jakhalu emphasized on the significant role of the Marwari community as key stakeholders in propelling the state’s economy to greater heights and appealed to the community to consider investing in Nagaland, highlighting the abundant opportunities available.


She also acknowledged Marwari community’s instrumental role in imparting valuable business expertise to the Nagas, expressing gratitude on both the state government’s behalf and her personal gratitude. “We acknowledge and greatly value the remarkable contributions that the Marwari community has made to our state’s economic growth”, she affirmed.


The advisor also commended the discipline and diligent work ethic exhibited by the youth within the Marwari community.


Assuring that concerns of the minority would be actively addressed at the state government level, Jakhalu encouraged all to seek solutions through the state government channels.
Furthermore, she encouraged the community to document their rich history within Nagaland, given its profound significance.


She further extended her best wishes to all participating teams and urged them to view the tournament as an opportunity to strengthen unity and bonds.
Meanwhile, guest of honor, Provincial vice president (Mandal D), Purvottar Pradeshiya Marwari Luva Manch, Prabhat Kumar Nimodia, in his speech, highlighted the gathering in brief on the humanitarian works carried by its foundation.


Earlier, welcome address was delivered by chairman MPL, Ajay Mundra, brief note on the league was delivered by convenor MPL, Nishant Jain, and vote of thanks by Arinjay Jain. Highlights of the programme included dances by members of DWS Dance Academy.
