Post facto observation of “World Cancer Day” and screening camp for Non- Communicable Diseases (NCD) was held at ADC’s conference hall, Mokokchung on March 7. Dr. Kilangwabang Pongener MD, IMDH Mokokchung was the resource person. Speaking at the programme he gave a detailed presentation on cancer, its causes, signs and symptoms. He also highlighted the common cancers prevalent in Nagaland in respect to both genders. DC and Chairman of District Health Society Mokokchung, Sushil Kumar Patel in his exhortation stated that awareness plays the main role in the prevention of cancer as well as NCDs. To keep ourselves healthy, we should go for servicing of our body (health) like we service our vehicles which we usually do at least twice a year, he added. Earlier, the programme was chaired by by Dr.Kibangkumba, deputy CMO Mokokchung and Dr. S.S.Akaba Longchar, CMO Mokokchung delivered the keynote address. The programme was followed by a group discussion and also a screening camp for NCD where 63 persons availed the screening.
