Rashtriya Ekta Divas: ‘Run for Unity’ marks Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary

To celebrate the 143rd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, “Run for Unity” was organised across Nagaland, Tuesday by districts and educational institutions. Participants also took “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” pledge, as part of the “Rashtriya Ekta Divas” or “National Unity Day” celebration.
Raj Bhavan: Governor of Nagaland La Ganesan along with the officers and staff of Raj Bhavan Kohima observed the “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” at the Drawing Room of the Raj Bhavan. A press release by PRO Raj Bhavan stated that during the short programme, Governor said whatever India is today as a nation was because of the unparalleled contributions of pioneers like Sardar Vallabhai Patel. He said Sardar Patel would have been a happy man if he was alive to see his vision and actions transforming India to a formidable nation.
Section officer, Jochule also shared the achievements of the Sardar V Patel who had played a pivotal role in the integration of the newly Independent nation. Secretary to Governor, Rajesh Soundararajan administered the “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” pledge, and flower tributes was also paid during the programme.
PHQ: Nagaland police celebrated “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” at the Conference Hall, PHQ Kohima, wherein DGP Nagaland, Rupin Sharma delivered a short speech on the importance of “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas”, which was to promote nationalism, unity, integrity, and solidarity among citizens. The programme was followed by pledge-taking ceremony.
Kohima: Kohima observed “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas”, where the Department of Youth Resources and Sports organised a “Run for Unity” event at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima. Approximately 200 men and women from diverse sections of society actively participated in the run, demonstrating their commitment to the cause of national unity. Participants also took the “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” pledge, emphasizing their dedication to the principles of unity and integration.
Dimapur: Dimapur district Administration along with District Sports officer organised “Run for Unity” at Government Higher secondary School Nagarjan. Participants from various walks of life gathered to mark this occasion and pay homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Mokokchung: Commemorating the “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” in convergence with “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”, a programme on the theme “Run for Unity”, Mokokchung was held at Town Centre, where members from the student community, churches and citizens of the town participated.
60 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from various schools and colleges affiliated 25 Naga Bn NCC, Mokokchung also took part in the “Run for Unity”.
Tuensang: Tuensang district also organised “Run for Unity,” which saw participates from various segments of the community, including the District Administration, DEF Tuensang, and students from Government Thangjam Higher Secondary School, Tuensang.
Noklak: In commemoration of “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas”, Noklak district administration organised “Run for Unity” at Noklak Town.
