Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) office Zunheboto would be observation animal welfare fortnight in the district during which a series of activities would be conducted on issues related to prevention of cruelty to animals, care and management, health care, care during transportation, protection of wild animals and their habitats etc.
During the weeklong programme which would culminate on January 30, the department would be organizing free vaccination camps for dogs and livestock, distribution of de-wormer for pigs, vitamins and mineral mixtures for livestock, delivering talks on animal welfare in selected schools and colleges, help initiate formation of animal lovers/ kindness groups/clubs, visiting slaughter houses for creating awareness on humane slaughter of animals.
The CVO has sought cooperation from public, institutions and all concerned for the success of the programme.
