Finance deptt clarifies on NPRAAF allegation

Reacting to the Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum (NPRAAF) allegation of “double drawals” published in local dailies, the Finance department has issued a clarification on the matter.
In a press note, Finance department said that as per their records, an amount of Rs. 1002.50 lakh was received from Government of India during March. Based on the proposal received in Finance department, the amount was released during July 2016. A similar amount was received in March 2017 as second instalment for the same works, and the same was released to the department during May 2017, it said.
Therefore, the department clarified that there was “no such double drawal as alleged”.  The amounts released were based on actual receipts from the Government of India. The amount released, were made under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme – “Grants under Proviso to Article 275(1)” under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
