Eastern Nagaland Sumi Students Union (ENSSU) conducted the first phase of education tour (2024-26) from June 7 to June 11. According to ENSSU, president Tonika G and general secretary Anaka S Chophy, during the tour, they observed that Government High School (GHS) Sitimi and Government High School (GHS) Phisami were found to be best performing schools under its jurisdiction.

However, the union said significant gaps on the shortage of staffs were observed, such as shortage of teachers at GHS Sitimi and English teacher at GHS Phisami. In this connection, ESSU appealed to department to promptly appoint qualified teachers.

The union were also surprised to learn that one teacher posted at GMS Sukiur-B failed to fulfill her duties since her appointment, despite of repeated interventions by the local union and the in-charge teacher. ESSU therefore appealed to concerned department to address the matter expeditiously.

ENSSU representatives also visited several local administrative offices, including EAC office, RD, CDPO and PHC in Sitimi town. Besides, ADC, CHC in Seyochung and EAC office in Sitimi and PHC, Sitimi, where the offices were found to be closed during the visit.
