September 18, 2024 | by admin
Members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) has appealed to the responsible department and company engaged in road maintenance to take up immediate measures after a retaining wall along National Highway-02 near Tourist Lodge, Wokha collapsed on August 5.
JAC claimed that the retaining wall along National Highway 02 collapsed more than a month ago, leading to significant damage to the highway and leading to traffic congestion in the area.
The members pointed out that department officials and company responsible for road maintenance have been intimidated but were given only verbal assurances and no action has been initiated to address the issue. Despite repeated appeals, the JAC members pointed out that the scene remains unattended by the concerned department, further worsening the condition of the highway.
They therefore appealed to the department and company to take immediate measures pointing on the serious threat the situation poses to commuters.
