Joshua Shohe wins ‘Ahuna Singing Star’

Joshua Shohe emerged as the winner of “Ahuna Singing Star” contest managed by New Age Production under the aegis of the Sümi Hoho held as part of the Ahuna Festival on November 13 in Zunheboto.


Tonani Obeto Chishi was awarded runner-up. The champion received a cash prize of Rs. 40,000, and the runner-up received Rs. 20,000. Both winners were also presented with citations and a video contract sponsored by Aron Asumi Studio, Zunheboto, and New Life Recording Studio, Dimapur.


The event drew 23 talented singers competing for the prestigious title, with judging provided by renowned artistes Alobo Naga, Hito Kiho, and Vivikali A. Asumi.

The programme was graced by IGP (Administration), PHQ Kohima, Joseph Hesso, who also delivered inspiring message to remain committed to God, noting that success follows such devotion.

He emphasized music’s power to heal and its role as a divine gift, encouraging its meaningful use. He also spoke on the importance of embodying one’s values to build a better community.


Hosted by Linovi Kiba, the event opened with prayers led by associate pastor (Youth) of Sümi Baptist Church Zunheboto, Agape Chishi. The Sümi Hoho honored two distinguished, multi-award-winning artistes, Alobo Naga and Hito Kiho, with certificates of commendation.

The keynote address was delivered by vice president of the Sümi Hoho, Otova Swu, and Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, also extended Ahuna greetings to the gathering.
