KOHIMA, AUG 16 (NPN): Tenyimi People’s Organisation (TPO) has declared that it would stand firmly on the issue of Naga national flag as it symbolised identity and proud history of the Naga people.
In a press statement, Tenyimi People’s Organisation president Timikha Koza and secretary Vipopal Kintso said that the TPO adopted a resolution at the executive council meeting on August 14, on affirming to protect the history and identity of Naga people.
The organisaiton also welcomed the decision of the political parties in Nagaland to come together to jointly facilitate “the Indo-Naga peace process” and work to expedite the long-anticipated solution to the Naga issue.
TPO also urged upon political leaders and elected representatives to work sincerely for the future good of Naga people by rising above individual gains and party politics.
It also expressed anguish at the plight of Nagas in Eastern Nagaland (Myanmar), who were living in fear and forced to leave their homes because of military repression. TPO expressed empathy and solidarity with them and assured it would do everything within its capacity to help those people in need.
TPO also urged all Naga individuals, organisations and government of the day to render all possible help to mitigate their troubles since they were “our people and would remain so”.
