The three months long 39th batch Secretariat Services Foundation Course which started on May 11 concluded on Jul 31 with Meyilemla, Secretary (Home) as the chief guest.
The chief guest, Meyilemla, secretary to the government of Nagaland, home department in her speech stressed upon the trainees to be there for the people.
She recalled her NCS foundation course which was conducted by the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) in the late 70’s, and said that the kind of training being imparted to the present generation was far much better and systematic than those trainings imparted during her initial days of government service.
She encouraged the participants to work sincerely in whichever branches they were placed thus making the civil secretariat a better place for the people. She also challenged the participants to become efficient managers which is the need of the hour for the Naga people.
The programme was chaired by Kewachu Semy, faculty head, disaster management cell and course director. A group song was presented by the trainees of the course which was followed by speeches from the participants.
Participant Zhetovi speaking on behalf of the participants mentioned that he and his fellow participants were leaving the institute with more knowledge and skills and assured that they would put into practice whatever they learnt in the three months.
Speaking of ATIs mission to help the government departments tackle their challenging and complex public administration issues with a view to make continuous improvement in their performance, he assured that they will live up to the mission statement of the Institute.
The trainees had undertaken a project work on office procedures and records management in 8 different departments as a part of their training programme, and selected four administrative departments and four heads of departments for their project work. The consolidated project report was presented by Nchumbemo during the valedictory programme. Course evaluation report was presented by Kaholi, lecturer (accounts) and course coordinator.
