KVK conduct 1st technology week

Nagaland University, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Zunheboto conducted its first Technology week from October 28 to November 1 at NU Lumami campus. The event was jointly sponsored by ATMA, Zunheboto and NABARD, Dimapur where 150 farmers from 13 villages took part on the first day.
On the second day, 32 Kissan club members from 10 villages were selected who visited SARS, Mokokchung; AAU, Jorhat; BDRC, Razhaphema; ICAR, Jharnapani ;NRC on Mithun, Jharnapani and SASRD, Medziphema.
The farmers were exposed to the various types of farming system, latest agricultural technologies and different animal production system. They were able to know different types of medicinal and aromatic plants found in Nagaland and its uses, the crops and variety suitable for hill agriculture.
“Seeing is believing” which was the main objective of the exposure tour so farmers could see what, how and where different activities could be taken up for better sustainable agriculture.
Technology week was concluded with field day where various technologies such as potato seed production system, integrated farming system, organic farming and sugarcane production system was demonstrated followed by farmer’s scientist interaction at Zhaphumi village.
