Field day on mustard cultivation was organized on February 8 at Bade village by KVK Dimapur, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Medziphema.
The programme started with invocation by Ex- VDB secretary of village. Dr. Anamika Sharma, programme coordinator, emphasizing on mustard cultivation said mustard could be cultivated even in moisture stress condition and had varieties which could provide even 10-14 q/ha with one winter rain (e.g. TS-38, TS-40, and M-27). However, this year production of mustard/toria was less due to lack of rain. The health benefits of mustard essential oil could be attributed to its properties like stimulant, irritant, appetizer, anti bacterial, anti fungal, insect repellant, hair vitalizer, cordial, diaphoretic, anti-rheumatic and tonic. H. D Singh, SMS highlighted farmers about package of cultivation practices of mustard. A total of 40 participants attended the programme. Further, the farmers visited mustard fields to know different varieties of mustard.
