Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Sedevikho Khro stressing on importance of civic responsibility called upon the people to inculcate responsibility of looking after community property without delegating the responsibility only on the government. “If we continue with the attitude of not looking after community property, we will not go forward” he asserted. The ADC said these while addressing the inaugural programme of the workshop organized by the PHED for WATSAN committee members at IMC hall on Friday.
Maintaining that water was also a resource which could dry up, ADC called for judicious use of it and emphasized on communitising the water resource. “We want everything to be given to us but if given we do not look after it” he asserted. Citing the example of Mawlynnong the cleanest village in Asia, the ADC also challenged the gathering to make the state into one of the cleanest place on earth.
Additional Chief Engineer & Executive Director, CCDU, Er K Kruse who also spoke at the function stressed on importance of communitisation and asserted that it was a type of marriage in which entire set up of basic facilities was handed over to the village. He also informed that the department was involving students and women to achieve the target of total sanitation by 2012. He also further outlined the achievements towards village sanitation in the form of Nirmal Puraskar.
