As part of the state government’s “Year of Capacity Building”, a group of seven legislators went on a foreign study tour to South-east Asia from October 20 to 30 in order to upgrade and update their knowledge.
According to a joint press statement issued by the seven legislators that included Deo Nukhu; Kipili Sangtam; Tarie Zeliang; C.L. John Konyak; L. Temjen Jamir; Nuklutoshi Longkumer and Vikho-o Yhoshü, they visited cities including Beijing (China), Seoul (Korea), Hongkong (China), and Bangkok (Thailand).
In Beijing, they visited the Great Wall of China, Ming tombs, Jade factory, Silk factory, the traditional Chinese medicine centre and other places. Sharing their experiences, the legislators said they were impressed by the infrastructure developments, trade and commerce facilities and tourism. In Seoul (Korea), the team was assisted by Rev. Barnabas C.S. Moon of CONA International and attended Church service in the biggest church of the world, Yoido Full Gospel Church, Seoul on Sunday, October 26 where they were warmly welcomed.
It said that the Church has a seating capacity of 30,000 people with seven services on Sundays. The team also held elaborate discussions with Rev. Moon on the proposed development projects of CONA International in Nagaland.
According to the press release, Rev Moon explained that the word CONA was coined from the words “CO” from Corea (actual spelling of Korea in their own language) and “NA” from Nagaland, for partnership of the people from Corea and Nagaland.
CONA International has a highly capable team of MBAs, Architects, Engineers, Musicians, Hospitality and Aviation Specialists. Rev. Moon has taken initiatives to help the 30+ Naga students presently studying in Korea, and has the vision to work for the upliftment of the people and rural economy of Nagaland, and to support Nagas in world missions.
On their experiences in Hongkong, the MLAs said they were impressed by its advanced economy and highly developed tourism industry. In Bangkok they visited Buddhist Monasteries, Temples and other heritage sites.
The MLAs spoke highly of the food habits, friendliness, patriotism and the national identity preserved by the countries they visited.
The tour was sponsored by the state government under the “Year of Capacity Building” – a policy for capacity building at various levels, including capacity building of MLAs to go on exposure-cum-educational study tour.
