
Special branch Dimapur Wednesday apprehended the “commander in chief” and another cadre of Dimasa National Liberation Front (DNLF), a breakaway group of DHD (J) at Dimapur.
The two were apprehended while they were about to extort money from PWD area Supply junction at around 1.30 p.m. The commander in chief was identified as Thairying Hakamausa alias Rohit Hakamausa alias Sujit Hakamausa (29) while his accomplice was identified as “pvt” Ujjal Thousan (26).
According to DSP special branch, Israel Xuivi said special branch team raided the residence of Sujit at LRC colony at around 6 p.m. and recovered 7.67 pistol, one magazine and five live rounds.
Israel said that Sujit had extorted Rs.2.90 lakh from Dimapur and was suspected to be involved in many unreported cases like extortion and kidnapping in Dimapur.
He said that DNLF was established in 2009 and has around 40-50 cadres. Sujit had also given Rs. 2 lakh advance to “someone” for procuring arms, Israel said.
The two along with the seized arm were handed over to West Police station. Meanwhile, Israel said as per the record, Sujit had escaped from a jail in Dima Hasao in August 2012 after he was arrested in July 2012 from Guwahati.
