Dimapur Bara Masjid Jamaat (DBMJ) censures views on ‘identity issue’

February 23, 2012 | by admin

Dimapur Bara Masjid Jamaat (DBMJ) has resolved that no member of Muslim community in Dimapur should “publish any view or opinion” relating to the community’s identity issued against any particular “individual or family”. This was decided after resolutions were adopted by the Muslim community at the Bara Masjid, Dimapur on February 19.

In a press statement, Halim Khan, GB, Hajee Park Area and DBMJ president said that the recent statement by “some members” of the Muslim community against members of Muslim Council, Dimapur (MCD) which was published in the local dailies was regretted. While asserting that an endeavour should be made to create better relations within the Muslim community and with the public at large, DBJM hoped that such “controversies” should be avoided in future.

DBJM statement further added all issues pertaining to “illegal immigrants” should be left to the competent authority and henceforth, “no member” of Dimapur Muslim community should create any controversy in public relating to the matter.
