Solo inaugurates SLPTD programme

The five-day State Level Professional Teaching Development Programme (SLPTD) was inaugurated by commissioner & secretary higher education, F.P. Solo as chief guest at an inaugural function under the theme ‘Growing from Good to Great’ on March 12 at NCTE conference hall.

According to an official bulletin, the chief guest said life long learning was no longer an option but a necessity.

He said, “We are living in a very demanding world – a world in which professional technical skills are in high demand, a world in which people expect quality products and services at reasonable costs.
All of us want the best quality at the cheapest price”.

He appealed to all teachers (trainees) to acquire necessary knowledge, skills and techniques of the profession, and asserted that with this kind of faculty development programmes, improvement in the performance and ultimately quality education would be brought about in the state.

Resource persons for the training programme are Dokiburra Sudhir, faculty coordinator (Hony) Haggai Institute-India and Sam Rufus, International Faculty Haggai Institute.

Delivering the key note address, Sam Rufus from the International Faculty of Haggai Institute who was also a resource person in the training programme, said that all should live with propensity for excellence and unify to share the learning, where good teachers explains, excellent teacher demonstrate and great teacher inspire.

The hosts for the programme were by Dr. Bendangla and Anisha.  Welcome address was delivered by principal NCTE – Kohima, Dr. Rukhono K. Iralu and invoking God’s presence through song by student teacher and prayer by Alemla assistant professor NCTE-Kohima. Vote of thanks was delivered by associate professor NCTE-Kohima, K. Nagi.
