Exempt teachers from ‘tax’: ANSTA

All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA) has appealed to all the responsible Naga political groups to exempt teachers from collection of taxes in the interest of education of the future generation.

In a press release, ANSTA president Ponchulo Wanth and general secretary P. Vashum said that teachers, as servant of humanity and nation builder, dealt with human resource development where “crude human beings” were being transformed into “civilized beings for the use of society just by depending on monthly salary alone.”

According to ANSTA, tax collection in the form of deduction of certain percentage of total salary by four to five different factions becomes a regular feature that created mental unrest in teachers besides disturbing the congenial working atmosphere of the whole teaching community.

ANSTA expressed its hope that, since “national workers” were working for the “greater interest of Naga society”, they would listen to the voice of the people.
