Supreme Court of India would be hearing a petition filed by Joint Action Committee on Women Reservation (JACWR) seeking 33% in local bodies on March 20.
According to a JAWRC source, Supreme Court senior advocate Dr. Colin Gonslaves would represent the Naga women while JAWRC co-convenor Rosemary Dzuvichu would attend the hearing. The hearing is likely to continue for two days, the source said.
JACWR had filed a Special Leave Petition against the Judgment and Order passed by the Division Bench, Gauhati High Court and challenged the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Resolution exempting Nagaland from Part IX A of the constitution and women reservation in municipalities.
