PHED Mon clarifies on Wakching water supply

PHED Mon division Monday responded to Congress candidate of 42 Wakching A/C, Yona Konyak’s recent remark on the status of drinking water supply scheme at Wakching.

PHED, Mon division EE Mayangsashi Amer, in a statement, said Wakching village water supply scheme was sanctioned during the year 2004 and completed in 2007.

However, the EE said several main pipelines caused damage due to dam construction by other department and the normal water supply was fully disrupted since then. The water had reached the village with 30,000 lpcd at main reservoir.

EE said department had also constructed ferro-cement tanks in Wakcing village and headquarters where water could not reach due to high altitude to mitigate the problem. He disclosed that estimate for Wakching Hq. and surrounding village had been submitted to the government for sanction.
