KHADC chairman visits Chuchuyimlang village

Chairman of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Fabian Lyngdoh visited Chuchuyimlang with officials on an exposure cum awareness tour Thursday. 
The team was on their visit to study the cultural patterns of the Ao Nagas especially administration and judiciary. 
In a solemn meeting with Chuchuyimlang council members at its Tatar Salang, Lyngdoh said that Nagaland was the best state in implementing village council Act. 
When he made a comparison between the states of Nagaland and Meghalaya on constitutional recognition, he said that Meghalaya or the Khasis were “deprived community” as they cannot acquire full constitutional recognition especially on their culture and traditions.
In this respect, Lyngdoh lauded the Nagas for bringing tradition and democracy together. He congratulated the Nagas for upholding the strong force of protecting their rich culture and traditions to the extent of obtaining constitutional recognition. 
He further appreciated the Nagas for their determination to survive on their own, culturally and territorially.  Lyngdoh was accompanied by Augustine Shangpliang, secretary KHADC, Monsoon Kharkrang, joint secretary KHADC, Balentine Sohtun, deputy secretary KHADC and Nolipstar Lyngdoh, headman Maten village, Meghalaya. 
BDO Kubolong Yapangla, BDO Changtongya & Chuchuyimlang Namchei Phom, and Latongwati, Governor’s awardee were also present in the meeting. 
The meeting was chaired by EAC Chuchuyimlang, Chumlamo Humtsoe, opening prayer was said by T. Lima pastor Chuchuyimlang Baptist Church (CBC), welcome address and presentation by Ao Sanen Pongen, chairman Chuchuyimlang village council. 
Later, interactive session between the visiting dignitaries, council members and members of various committees under the council was also held. 
The closing prayer was said by Jungshi, youth director CBC.
