Parliamentary secretary parliamentary secretary for excise, economics & statistics legal metrology & consumer protection T. Torechu and parliamentary secretary for CAWD have called upon the Yimchungrüs to maintain unity and peace.
They were speaking at the felicitation programme, organized in honour of their success in the recently conducted assembly elections, at DBs Court, Shamator under Tuensang district April 27.
The felicitation programme was jointly organized by Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC), Yimchungrü Akheru Arihako (YAA), Yimchungrü Women Organization (YWO), Yimchungrü Gazetted Officers” Association (YGOA) and Yimchungrü Baptist Boru Amukhunto (YBBA).
In his address, Torechu appreciated the gesture of Yimchungrü organizations in the programme for both him and Tohanba and expressed hope that one day Yimchungrüs would also confidently march forward in every aspects of life like the rest of the Nagas.
Torechu underlined the need to inculcate self respect, self-confidence, moral integrity and to maintain harmony among the Yimchungrü people, irrespective of different dialects.
Torechu said he was re-elected consecutively for three terms with the constant prayer support by people and urged them to maintain ‘oneness, cooperation and unity’ with neighbouring tribes.
Also, speaking at the programme, parliamentary secretary for CAWD R. Tohanba urged
Yimchungrüs to maintain their identity and culture. He lauded Yimchungrü bodies for organizing the felicitation programme.
He underlined the importance of peace and prosperity within the community, which he said was essential to pave the way for development.
Tohanba urged the people to ‘talk less" and "work more", which he said could further develop and uplift the society. Got opinions to express?
He also appealed to the people to cooperate and work cohesively with the government so as to bring developmental activities in the areas.
Earlier, the felicitation programme was chaired by Yanba Showuba, vice president YTC while invocation was pronounced by Rev. Phenungkiu Mission promoter YBBA. Welcome address was delivered by Kiu’s Chuba, executive chairman YTC. Short speeches were also delivered by the president of YTC, YAA, YWO, YGOA, and YBBA.
A special prayer for elected members was prayed by Rev. R. Thsankiu pastor STBC. Vote of thanks was proposed by W. Athong general secretary YTC, while benediction was prayed by M. Hankiu Mission secretary YBBA.
The programme was also marked by presenting a special number from Suhakhim Dusheak and YWO Shamator unit.
