Drawing attention to what it called “negative assumption” of CLP leader Tokheho that “NPF-led by Rio strained relationship with all major political parties at the centre, including the main opposition BJP,” the Naga People’s Front (NPF) Thursday termed the remark as “malicious and cheap propaganda of his own.”
In a statement, NPF press bureau said accusing the party of forcing and forging BJP and NCP was “simply an act of jealousy” and “undermining” the leaderships on the resolute steps taken by those leaders who “took the decision for strengthening regionalism.”
According to press bureau, the NCP and BJP legislators, who joined NPF, took place on the sole decision of the state unit parties to merge with the NPF.
Thus, NPF said it was only in good faith in the party and its leadership that BJP and NCP legislators “merged or joined the NPF which the national leaders of the respective parties have taken well”.
It added DAN government has “in no way failed” in keeping proper track to “expedite the Indo-Naga political issue” with either leaders of the UPA government or other national leaders.
NPF claimed “outstanding degree and quality of improvement and progress” during DAN government under the leadership of Rio as chief minister can not be denied.
NPF said the Congress party claiming to be ahead of NPF on Naga polity was nothing but “a fairy tale narration” as it “shied away from playing positive role.”
“Instead, Congress should retrospect their past regime,” said NPF, alleging that “most of the present negative consequences” in the Naga society were the “result
of their negative governances during their regime.”
According to NPF on going “Indo-Naga Peace process” was a subject that needed mass based support and involvement. It said NPF-led DAN government has been working “sincerely in bringing about a favourable solution.”
In this effect, press bureau said formation of joint legislators’ forum involving all the 60 legislators of the Assembly was the “fruit of the hard work and devoted initiatives” of the NPF-led DAN.
Stating DAN government was a strongly mandated government of the people and was for the people, the bureau said hence, every responsible Naga citizen with sincere concern and support for early solution of the Indo-Naga political issue were welcome.
It said as felicitator the DAN government has been keeping proper track with the UPA government pressing for an early solution that has to be acceptable to all.
Meanwhile, the NPF claimed Congress was trying to “shed crocodile tears on the Eastern Naga Peoples grievances,” which it asserted was “a dangerous political method the Congress has adapted contradicting themselves of going far ahead on Nagas Unity.”
It said people were the best judge “in all round development taking place in this region” which was “deliberately neglected for so long during Congress regime.” NPF said Congress should desist from “such emotional blackmailing game” and be prepared to “face the ballot battle.”
