Close on the heels of Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) appealing for the construction of the proposed foothill road connecting Dimapur with Wokha, Mokokchung, Longleng and Mon districts, Central Nagaland Tribal Council (CNTC) has also urged the state government to prioritize the construction of the same.
In a statement, CNTC vice president Hokiye Yeptho and general secretary Imtinochet also lamented over the fact that successive state governments in the last 40 years have failed to fulfill the desire of the people with regard to the proposed road. CNTC said people of the state continued to suffer as they had to pass through Assam side to reach destinations within the state besides facing constant harassment from the neighbouring state’s police force. The leaders of the popular government should heed to the clarion call given by ASTD, said CNTC.
