Angami students’ union (ASU) condemned the “despicable” action of the Assam Rifles, and the “exasperated mob violence” in Kiphire where Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire, Kesonyü Yhome(IAS) was made “scapegoat” in the issue.
The union while condemning the act of “vandalism and mob violence” directed against the deputy commissioner, said that the union was “closely monitoring” the developments and expected a “clear and impartial picture” from the enquiry commission.
This was stated in a release issued by Zakie Khate, president, ASU and Sedevikho Angami, general secretary, ASU.
Meanwhile, United Sangtam gazetted officers union (USGOU) has condemned the “excessiveness” of the Assam Rifles leading to the unfortunate incident at Kiphire town on April 28.
USGOU president, T.C. Sangtam appealed to the people to desist and refrain from such “unruly and regrettable” behavior in future.
The union also appreciated deputy commissioner Kiphire, Kesonyu Yhome IAS, for his “matured stewardship” in the aftermath of the incident, and for his “selfless service” for the welfare of the district.
