Ganja worth ` 2.8 lakh seized

Personnel of excise mobile squad seized 70 kgs of ganja worth Rs. 2.8 lakh (international market) and arrested one person at Burma Camp, here Monday night.

According to superintendent of excise mobile squad Ghokiho Yeptho, the consignment was seized from the residence of P.C. Nath, who is suspected to be the main dealer.

Based on specific information, a team of mobile squad, S. Kahiko Yeptho I.E, Vitoselie I.E and Ihoto constable, raided the house of Nath and arrested him along with the contraband.

Ghokiho said Nath used to store the ganja at his residence brought from Pfutsero and Mao. The accused sold contraband to customers from Kolkata and Benaras.

Weighting stone and ganja cutting machine were also found at Nath’s residence, Ghokiho said. The accused was forwarded to judicial custody.
