June 7 shooting: NSCN (K) denies involvement

June 13, 2012 | by admin

NSCN (K) has denied its involvement in the June 7 shooting incident near Mohonkhola at Kohima where one civilian sustained bullet injury.

MIP statement from NSCN (K) Tuesday blamed rival GPRN/NSCN cadres for the incident stating that the car in which the “unfortunate” victim was driving had similar “hue” and “looks” like one that belonged to one of its Naga Army personnel.

“This act was committed by the GPRN/NSCN cadres with intent to harm its Naga Army personnel but the civilian became the victim of mistaken identity by the gun-flashing Khehoi campers who do not care for the lives of innocent citizens,” the statement added.

Describing the act by GPRN/NSCN cadres as “dastardly,” the statement also asked all to condemn the act and further asked law enforcing agencies of Nagaland to book the culprits and award befitting punishment to the perpetrators of this crime adding that it was ready to assist the investigating agencies towards identifying the culprits of this “heinous” crime.

Meanwhile, refuting Assam Rifles charges that its cadres were armed with pistols and in possession of incriminating documents of NSCN (K), Cease-fire Supervisory Board (CFSB) member and finance “kilonser” Hokato Vusshe asked police to spell out clearly to the chairman CFSB to which group the documents, which the AR claimed it seized from NSCN (K) cadres, actually belonged.

Speaking to this correspondent over phone, CFSB member reiterated that the documents were part of the seizure list along with two pistols that were submitted to the police by Assam Rifles and included an assignment order from the office of the “secretary” ministry of chaplee affairs, GPRN, Khekiho Chophi, phone index list containing names and telephone numbers of chaplee staff including chaplee “kilonser” Jack Zhimomi, “deputy kilonsers” Bohoto, Nitovi, Angpa, John, Yensaba, Benjamin and secretaries and “information slips” (challans) issued by GPRN/NSCN.

Stating the all the names mentioned in the documents were from GPRN/NSCN, the Chaplee “kilonser” asked AR to refresh their information on the “designated” leaders and officers asking AR to get their facts right on which group the names mentioned in the alleged seized documents are currently based.

“How can the AR charge our organization for possession of documents that were never ours but those of GPRN/NSCN?” Vusshe queried.

On the alleged seizure of pistols, he said that his boys were not in possession of the weapons but were brought by AR troops to frame  NSCN (K) cadres for possessing the guns.

NSCN (K) questioned the motive of the AR for falsely implicating his boys for possession of these documents which did not belong to his group and for “mysteriously” producing the guns that were never found during the raid.

Asking AR to draw same parity on its “so called” effort to maintain “law and order,” CFSB member asked AR why NSCN (K) men are being the sole target in their bid to frame such “ridiculous” charges of violating CF ground rules when cadres of GPRN/NSCN move about freely in arms and disturbing general peace and endangering the lives of innocent civilians.
