Raising doubts over the assurance made by the chief minister on October 18, seeking 7 days time for the SIT to carry out a comprehensive probe, Coordination committee on Fuel adulteration (CCoFA) has said that 10 days have passed and the government was yet make the report/chargesheet public.
CCoFA media cell said it had learnt that the SIT had submitted its chargesheet, however the committee has still been kept in the dark, despite the chief minister’s assurance. It is incumbent upon the SIT and the government to announce to the general public that chargesheet has been filed in the court instead of the CCoFA making an announcement, the media cell stated.
It said, CCoFA which is not supposed to run from pillar to post looking for a copy of the chargesheet, had been doing so for the past 10 days. “The government is already seized of the serious nature of the issue and the usual complacent and dishonourable attitude of the government is most condemnable. It gives credence to the general perception that the government is not at all serious about solving the vexed fuel adulteration issue,” CCoFA said.
On October 18, following the indefinite NH-29 bandh called by CCoFA, Zeliang reportedly sought 7-day time from the committee, with the assurance that a “comprehensive” probe will be conducted by the SIT with the condition that an “independent inquiry” will be set up if the SIT findings are unsatisfactory.
