
Lower Agri Colony Ward Council Kohima celebrated its silver jubilee celebration today under the theme “Looking beyond unity” at Lower Agri Colony Junction, Kohima.
Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change Dr.Nicky Kire graced the grand celebration as the chief guest.
Exhorting the gathering, Kire said jubilee should be a time for introspection and retrospection by way of forgiving each other and looking forward to a better tomorrow. Referring to the theme, he encouraged the colony people to “love thy neighbour” and continue working in unity towards betterment of the colony.
Kire also informed about the recently launched central scheme Unnat Jyoti for Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) and encouraged them to introduce in their homes and colony which would directly or indirectly contribute towards energy efficiency and would aid in climate change. He mentioned the various undertakings by the colony like the waiting shed and ATM-cum-toilet which would be useful and convenient for the general public.
The minister also said that everyone should contribution towards the betterment of the colony according to one’s capacity and also encouraged the youngsters to be self-employed and not depend on government jobs but to work hard and go forward in unity. Er.Lima Ozukum in his address attributed the achievements of the colony as the effort of the colony members.
He appealed to strive towards betterment of the colony by moving forward in unity so that the colony would serve as an example for others colonies. Jubilee planning convener Neikhozo Suokhrie presented the jubilee report and acknowledged the pioneers of the colony. Earlier the minister also released the jubilee souvenir. MLA, Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu accompanied the minister.
