AKM deadline to illegal migrants

December 12, 2008 | by admin

In the wake of the alleged rape of a 9-year-old girl by one Soug Ali of “Bangladeshi origin” in Tuli on December 9, the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has reaffirmed its stand on the objective of “Survival Mokokchung” and ordered all illegal immigrants to leave “Ao land” by December 15.
The apex Ao students’ body warned that failing to comply with the directive, AKM would not be responsible for lost of life and property of “those perpetrators.”
While condemning the “beastly act” and terming it as one that was “unforgettable” and not be “forgiven,” AKM president S Bendang Aier and general secretary Tongpang Ozukum in a press release reminded that, time and again, AKM had been creating awareness about the “evil designs” of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, whose sinister activities cannot still be written off.
“Sensing the danger of harbouring the illegal immigrants in Mokokchung, ‘Survival Mokokchung’ was started last year to flush out illegal immigrants who are not allowed to settle even in India. The AKM, however, is displeased by the lackadaisical attitude of the general public in Mokokchung, particularly in places bordering Assam due to which we are forced to face such ugly situation meted to our sisters,” AKM said. Making a clarion call, AKM said “it is ourselves, who will have to safeguard our land, our life and our social fabric from the clutches of these illegal immigrants.”
