Kerry Katona’s cash troubles just got bigger-after husband Mark Croft ADMITTED fathering a three-year-old boy, landing a huge maintenance bill.
It’s another massive blow for bankrupt Kerry, 27, as they could be forced to pay tens of thousands in back pay.
Mark’s ex-girlfriend discovered her current partner was not the father of her son in September. When Mark, 37, was told the tot could be his he denied it and demanded a paternity test.
Our source said: “Mark was incensed at first. He’d been seeing this woman before he started dating Kerry. It had just been a casual relationship to him.
“They hadn’t spoken for years until she got in touch recently. Kerry was furious until she realised there’d been no cheating and they both went to see this woman a few weeks ago.
“They instantly realised the boy was definitely his. He’s the spitting image. And now DNA tests have proved it. This couldn’t have come at a worse time for Kerry and Mark. They’re totally and utterly broke. As well as back payments they’ll have to cough up every month for the next 15 years.”
A friend of Kerry’s said: “Mark IS the dad and he WILL face up to his responsibilities. There’s no question of the CSA getting involved. Mark will come to an amicable arrangement. The relationship happened before Mark was with Kerry and she’s fine about it.”
Mark now has four children, including two with Kerry, and the former Atomic Kitten star also has two older daughters by ex-husband Brian McFadden. Our source said: “It’s going to be a real stretch for them.” Kerry has already lost a lucrative magazine column, and a £160,000 deal to film a fly-on-the-wall series was shelved.
Former cabbie Mark is now contemplating a return to the taxi business -using their fleet of luxury cars.
