PHED conducts sanitation campaign

A one-day workshop on total sanitation campaign on Information, Education and Communication (IEC) to sensitize issue at district level was conducted January 24 by CCDU (PHED) at Zunheboto with DC and chairman DWSM Zunheboto, C.M. Tsanglao as chief guest.
Addressing the function, DC lauded many rural related educational and welfare schemes that were being initiated by the Centre and implemented through PHED by CCDU directorate at Kohima.
He also exhorted and encouraged the participants and delegates at the workshop to make best use of various schemes that have been made available by the department.
The main resource persons included executive director CCDU (PHED) and executive engineer CCDU (PHED) Kohima, Er. Kevisekho Kruse and EE (PHED) Zunheboto, Er. P. Khetoi Awomi.
Speaking at the workshop, Er. K. Kruse highlighted the programme concept, coverage status, strategy and challenges on Total Sanitation Campaign while Er. Kent Rengma presented detailed description on excreta related diseases, technology options for construction of IHHL, school toilets, Angadwadi centre toilets, solid and liquid waste disposal, hand washing and Nirmal Gram Paruskar (NGP) award.
According to a press release issued by EE (PHED) Zunheboto, Er. P. Khetoi Awomi the response and interaction with the participants in the workshop was very encouraging.
The release also stated that mass rally on sanitation would be conducted during the end of February. The sponsors of workshop has expressed gratitude and appreciation to participants from NGOs, student union, private and government schools, education department officials, district welfare officer, various villages, WATSAN committee and the departmental officers who made the workshop a total success.
