Dr Chumben urges agri officers to report correct statistics

Minister for agriculture Dr. Chumben Murry urged agriculture officers to be efficient managers and to develop good reporting statistical formats for both Kharif and Rabi season.
Speaking at the inaugural function of a two-day state level Kharif workshop for agricultural officers at directorate of agriculture on February 17, Dr. Chumben reminded officers that 82% of people’s economy was at their hands and therefore officers were obligated to serve the people.
The objective of the workshop was to review the statistical issues, 2008-09, achievement and fixation of target for Kharif’09.
Also speaking as guest of honour Alemtemshi, IAS, additional chief secretary, APC and development commissioner stressed on the importance of statistics in today’s global meltdown and strongly advocated to submit correct statistical data for their respective establishments as officers were accountable for any wrong information furnished.
He stated that statistics was a serious issue for survival of mankind and suggested to make reporting of statistical data more scientifically.
The inaugural function was chaired by N.N. Zhasa, commissioner and secretary (agriculture) and director, Dr. Supong Keitzar proposed keynote address. Welcome address was pronounced by agriculture additional director A.Y. Ovung, and vote of thanks delivered by joint director C. Mozhui.
