3 suspected PLA men held

The 24 AR apprehended three suspected cadres of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) with arms and ammunition at Dhobinala area on February 19 morning and handed them over to West PS police late in the evening the next day.
According to a statement given to the police by the Assam Rifles, the three were identified as “ss” Pvt Hijam Dina Chouba Singh (30), son of Hijam Hembabu Singh of Jiribam Uchathou, Imphal, Manipur, “ss” Pvt Ashem Lukhai Singh (40), son of A Gouro Singh of Toubal Khiyam Siphai, Imphal and Kh. Shyam Singh (42), son of Babodhan Singh of Thoubal district, Manipur. All were presently residing at Dhobinullah. One AK-47 rifle with 30 live rounds, one 9mm pistol with five live rounds and I-Com radio set were recovered from their possession. The three have booked under National Security Act.
According to sources, Ashem and Shyam were running a painting shop at Dhobhinala while Hijam was dealing with dry fish at daily Super Market Bazaar.
The sources also alleged that the AR personnel first took the three to their camp blind folded on the day of their arrest and asked them to pose for photograph along with the arms and ammunition. However, the trio told newsmen in the police station that the arms and ammunition did not belong to them.
