Peace Channel Dimapur organized an orientation programme for teachers’, animators and student leaders of Peace Club from various schools of Dimapur, Kohima and Peren on the ‘Fundamentals of Peace Building’ on February 28 at Christ Hall Dimapur. The inauguration began with an invocation prayer by Director Pastoral Centre Dimapur, Rev. Fr. Gravier Augustine and welcome address delivered by Dorothy.
Parish Priest, Holy Cross Dimapur, Fr Chacko Karinthayil graced the program as chief guest. In his key note address, he stressed on the potentiality of education as a powerful mechanism for peace building; promoter, keeper and initiator.
He aptly put the quotation of Maria Montessori, “Avoiding war is the work of politics but promoting peace is the work of education” and urged the participants to learn the art of co-existence in the midst of conflicts and tensions.
Director, Peace Channel, Fr. C.P. Anto spoke on the ‘Fundamentals of Peace Building and Conflict Resolution Methods’. He focused on the need and urgency of peace and peace building as an antidote for the conflicts taking place in the society.
Later planning and dialogue for up coming events were discussed, followed by peace concert by the peace concerto team.
The program ended with vote of thanks by coordinator Peace Channel, Kishor Dass.
